Okinawa karate symposium on September 29th

  A symposium organized by the Okinawa Prefecture, the Okinawa Karate and Kobujutsu preservation society, and the ODKS is scheduled to be held September 29th at the Okinawa Karate Kaikan. More details in English are available on the Shinkokai website.

 

New special exhibition and the photo of Itosu Ankō?

  The Okinawa Prefecture Karate promotion division is preparing a new special exhibition inside the Okinawa Karate Kaikan’s special exhibit room. Titled “To pass down, and spread karate!” with “Karate teachers after the Meiji period” as subtitle, the exhibit will unveiled on September 12th, 2019.

  On this day, Okinawa karate promotion division researcher Nakamura Akira will offer a special lecture in which he will also present a picture of a person who has been identified as Itosu Ankō, as seen in the graduation photo of the Okinawa Prefectural Middle School.

  The opening event and lecture will be held between 11:00 and 12:00 on September 12.

  The exhibition will be open until March 24, 2020.
