The praising monument of masters Higa Sekō & Higa Seikichi

Description

This setele is dedicated to Higa Sekō sensei, student of the forefather of Nahate Higaonna Kanryō and the founder of Gōjū-ryū, Miyagi Chōjun. The monument also praises his son, Higa Seikichi sensei. The monument is located in the courtyard of the grave of the Higa family.
Master Higa Sekō was born in 1898 and studied under Higaonnna from 1911. After that, he also studied with Miyagi. From 1931 he opened various dōjō in several locations and instructed karate. In 1960 he founded the Gōjū-ryū International Karate and Kobudō Federation. He passed away in 1966.
His son Higa Seikichi was born in 1927. He studied under his father and served as chairman of the said Federation in 1990. He died in 1999.
